Happy Monday, 'Nova Nation! Could it be? Villanova losing to the eventual national champion AGAIN? That's entirely possible now that Shabazz Napier has morphed into Kemba Walker and is carrying UConn on his back to Dallas.

Watching him has really made it clear that we need a leader & scorer like that if we're going to get back to making deep March runs. Who will it be?

Phil Booth named All-Metro Player of the Year |
Versatile senior guard Phil Booth closed out a fine four-year varsity career in impressive fashion, leading the No. 2 Gaels (34-5) to a sweep of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference and Baltimore Catholic League championships. Signed to play at Villanova, Booth finished the season averaging 19 points, six rebounds and three assists per game.

Villanova sophomore first baseman Max Beermann and senior centerfielder Connor Jones had two-run homers as the Wildcats defeated Wagner, 7-3, Friday in the opener of a three-game weekend series.

Margey Comes in Fourth in 1500 Meters on First Day of Raleigh Relays | Villanova University Official Athletic Site
Sophomore distance runner Kelsey Margey (Huntington, N.Y.) came in fourth in the 1500 meters and Villanova opened competition in the two-day Raleigh Relays at Paul H. Derr Track on Friday afternoon with seven athletes competing in four different events. The meet continues throughout the day on Saturday.

Junior Elbert Maxwell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished first in the high jump and Villanova had a group of seven runners run well in the 1500 meters as the Danny Curran Invitational concluded at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Junior Charlie Bates (Hoboken, N.J.) led the Wildcats charge in the 1500 meters with a second place finish.

Behind three different hat tricks, the Villanova women's lacrosse team (5-4, 1-0 BIG EAST) picked up its first conference win of the season and first program win over Rutgers (6-5, 0-1 BIG EAST) with a 14-11 score Saturday afternoon.
