Big East Tournament 2014: March 7th bracket projection

Villanova and Creighton are locked in at the top, but the middle is still very much in flux.

Villanova's Big East-clinching win over Xavier last night meant that the top two seeds are finalized. Villanova is the top seed and will play their first game next Thursday at noon, while the Creighton Bluejays are now locked in as the 2-seed and open up tournament play next Thursday night at 7pm ET.

Here's the current Big East bracket if the season were to end today. There are no games tonight so the bracket will be finalized around 10pm ET on Saturday night.

Providence still owns the 3-seed, for now. The Friars travel to Creighton on Saturday night (8pm ET, CBS Sports Network) needing a win to hang on to that spot. A loss would send Xavier to the 3-seed and Providence to the 4th spot.

The Georgetown Hoyas need a win on Saturday at Villanova (2 pm ET, Fox Sports 1) to stay alive for the 6-seed, but they need help to get there.

The St. John's Red Storm and Marquette Golden Eagles are currently tied for 5th. They play in Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon (12pm ET, Fox Sports 1) with the winner taking 5th place. A Marquette win, coupled with a Georgetown win, would elevate the Hoyas to the 6-seed, forcing St. John's to open play on Wednesday night.

As has been the case for several days, Seton Hall is the 8-seed. Butler's dominating win at DePaul last night kept them alive for the 9-seed, but they'll need to win at home on Saturday afternoon against Seton Hall (4:30pm ET, Fox Sports 1) if they want a rematch with the 8th seeded Pirates next Wednesday night.

It should be a fun Saturday of basketball.
