In a pitcher's duel that consisted of 10 scoreless innings between Villanova's Kaity Sitzman and Rutgers' Shayla Sweeney, the Wildcats offense was unable to get going as the Scarlet Knights took game one of Thursday's doubleheader, 1-0, in 11 innings at the Villanova Softball Complex.

The Villanova women's lacrosse team (6-4) finished its nonconference slate with an 8-6 win over Lafayette (4-9) Wednesday night. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Galvin put the Wildcats up 31 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal. Sophomore attack Meghan Breen increased the Villanova lead three minutes later with a backdoor tally from Jessica Mucci.
