This is the second year of existence for the Marquette Men's Lacrosse program and their first in the Big East. The 'Cats and Golden Eagles have only played once- a 10-8 Villanova victory welcoming Marquette to the Big East on March 23rd in Milwaukee.

Marquette finished their first season in the Big East Tournament with a 4-2 record losing to the Wildcats and top-seed Denver.
According to SB Nation's lacrosse authority, CollegeCrosse, Marquette "has an offense that many teams would murder puppies for." The Golden Eagles are averaging 9.5 goals per game led by Tyler Melnyk with 50 points (36 goals, 14 assists). Sophomore Kyle Whitlow is second with 32 points on 22 goals and 10 assists.
Defensively, the Marquette goal has been tended by Jimmy Danaher who has tallied 99 saves on a 46% Save% and recorded an 11.3 Goals Against Average.

Villanova is led on offense by Kevin O'Neil whose 27 goals and 10 assists led the Wildcats. Senior Thomas Croonquist has posted a .500 win percentage on faceoffs this season on 298 attempts.
The Defense is anchored by Big East Defensive Player of the Year John LoCascio who has tallied 68 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers. Chris Conroy who joined LoCascio on the conference First Team and Chris Piccirilli who made the Big East 2nd Team solidify the back for the Wildcats.
The winner of this game will play the winner of the first semifinal between #1 Denver Pioneers vs. #4 Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
