Villanova Track & Field: 6 Qualify for NCAA Championships

Villanova had a successful showing over the weekend at the 2014 NCAA Track & Field East Prelims as six Wildcat athletes qualified for the NCAA Track & Field Championships.

Elbert Maxwell started the list of Wildcat Qualifiers off on Friday has he launched 7.52m for a personal record in the long jump.

On the Women's side, senior Emily Lipari (4:14.64) and sophomore Angel Piccirillo (4:15.16) both qualified for the 1,500m as they posted personal bests; Lipari's became a meet record.

Sam Ellison qualified for the Championships in the 800m for the third consecutive year. His 1:47.60 in the quarterfinal was a career best.

Elsewhere on the track, Jordy Williamsz ran a 3:45.90 in the 1500m and Patrick Tiernan's 14:14.57 in the 5K qualified them for Eugene.

The University of Oregon in Eugene, OR will host the 2014 NCAA Championships. They will be held June 11-14.
