NCAA Conference Realignment 2014: July 1st Updates

There's no new conference forming like a year ago, but major changes are happening today.

The most recent moves in NCAA Realignment occur today. Although a bulk of the shifting is occuring at the Mid-Major level, there are three main changes that are highlighted by Louisville's migration from one year in the AAC to a spot in the ACC.

The Cardinals will be filling in a hole left in the ACC's membership due to Maryland's departure for the Big Ten who will also be joined by Rutgers.

Notably, for Villanova, the Elon Phoenix will join the CAA for all sports -- including football. While the 'Cats won't play Elon this Fall, you can expect some contests with the private school from North Carolina over the next few seasons.

Here is a quick recap of schools that are switching conferences on July 1st.
