Per Joe Henricksen of the Chicago Sun-Times, 2015 5-star PG Jalen Brunson has scheduled 3 of his 5 official visits. The details, per Twitter:
Stevenson star Jalen Brunson has set 3 official visits: Illinois Aug. 29-31; Villanova Sept. 4-6 and Temple Sept. 11-13— Joe Henricksen (@joehoopsreport) August 6, 2014
In early May, Brunson announced his final 8 schools under consideration, and later that month rumors started to swirl that Villanova might be in the driver's seat to bring Brunson back to the east coast, where his family has strong roots.
Those plans quickly faded when it was announced that Temple was set to announce the hire of his father Rick Brunson as an assistant coach and made it a foregone conclusion that his son would follow him there. The saga took another twist when Rick Brunson was indicted on sexual assault charges, and a source told CBSSports that the Brunson package deal to Temple was off the table.
With the Temple-lean decreasing, the popular prediction has been Brunson landing at Michigan St., but that appears premature none of Brunson's three scheduled officials are to East Lansing. It's likely still early days in this recruitment, but Villanova appears to be back in the mix with a solid shot to land what many consider to be the best pure point guard in the class of 2015.
The Wildcats are also still chasing combo-guards Donovan Mitchell and Isaiah Briscoe - the former will likely decide sometime this fall while Briscoe has publicly stated he won't commit until the spring. Jay Wright already has commitments from guard Donte DiVincenzo and forward Tim Delaney, and has three open scholarships at his disposal.
