Report: Villanova Alumn Jim Curtin to be named Union boss

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Former Villanova Soccer player Jim Curtin will have the "interim" tag removed from his head coach title by the Philadelphia Union.

Curtin, who graduated from 'Nova in 2001, played in MLS for the Chicago Fire and Chivas USA. He was an assistant coach for the Union before being named Interim Head Coach this summer. Since that appointment, the Union have won six of their next 13 league matches putting them into the MLS Playoff picture. He also guided the Union to their first chance at a trophy before losing to Seattle in the Finals of the US Open Cup.
