The Villanova University women's volleyball team keeps their undefeated record at home intact, as they were able to defeat both Marquette and Depaul this weekend. In the first matchup of the weekend, the 'Cats squared off against the Golden Eagles Friday night, and defeated them in straight sets (25-22, 25-19, 25-21). Claire Crutchfield (13) and Allie Loitz (11) led the offense for the Wildcats during the match recording, each registering double-digit kills. Allison Fitzgerald led the way defensively with 14 digs.
After defeating Marquette, the Wildcats then faced off against Blue Devils on Saturday night, and they also defeated them in straight sets (25-21, 25-23, 25-18). Gabby Pethokoukis and Allie Loitz each had 14 kills in the match to lead the offense, while Allison Fitzgerald (11) and Lauren Carpenter (10) led the way defensively with double-digit kills.
The two wins improve the Wildcats' overall record to 13-4 on the season, including 3-1 in Big East play. When playing in Jake Nevin Field House this season, Villanova has gone 5-0, and has only lost 1 set in the 5 games they have played. The 'Cats will travel to New York take on St. John's Wednesday night, as they look to get over the hump and secure a winning record in conference away games.
