Villanova's Patrick Tiernan finished off an amazing fall running campaign finishing second at the 2015 NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday in Louisville, KY. The junior from Toowoomba, Australia transited the 10K course in a time of 29:11.01; 24.4 seconds behind 3-time national champion Edward Cheserek from Oregon.
Tiernan and the Kenya native were neck and neck through the first 8000 meters and had separation from the field, but Tiernan was unable to maintain connection as the duo got to the top of a hill with 1,500 meters to go.
Syracuse won the men's team title.
On the women's side, Villanova finished 25th overall with sophomore Siofra Cleirigh Buttner the top runner. New Mexico took home the Ladies' team crown.
