Villanova junior Josh Hart has been named the BIG EAST's Player of the Week following the Wildcats' victories over Nebraska, East Tennessee State, and Akron. The junior from Maryland averaged 18.7 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 22-40 from the floor over the three games.

It's worth noting that Josh Hart was inexplicably left all all of the preseason accolade lists by the conference, despite winning 6th Man of the Year and Big East Tournament MVP under 9 months ago. It will be tough for anybody to unseat Kris Dunn from claiming Player of the Year this season just because of the sheer volume of stats he'll put up, but Hart may be putting the conference on notice early on.

Big man Yankuba Sima of St. John's was named Freshman of the Week and the Honor Roll is as follows:

  • Roosevelt Jones, Butler
  • Isaac Copeland, Georgetown
  • Rodney Bullock, Providence
  • Desi Rodriguez, Seton Hall
  • Trevon Bluiett, Xavier
