Villanova freshman guard Donte DiVincenzo has fractured foot, out 4-6 weeks

Villanova is now down to 8 healthy scholarship players.

Per an official release from the Athletics Department, further tests on Villanova Wildcats freshman guard Donte DiVincenzo have shown a fracture in fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot. The injury will likely keep DiVincenzo out until late January.

Here's Wright on the news:

"We’re disappointed for Donte," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "He has made such great progress as a freshman and we were counting on him to make a big contribution. Donte will work hard to get back and I know he will be better because of this.

This is a tough, but not entirely unexpected blow for the team after DiVincenzo sat out the victory over La Salle and Jay Wright expressed his concern to the media following the game. The injury brings Villanova down to just 8 healthy scholarship players (Tim Delaney is out for the season due to injury and Eric Paschall is redshirting due to transfer rules).

With important games against Virginia and Xavier in the next two weeks and a loaded January slate of Big East action, Villanova won't be operating at full strength.

Here's to a speedy and healthy recovery for Donte.
