Villanova headed into Saturday's game against the Xavier Musketeers with a Big East Regular Championship in their grasp; a win would give the Wildcats a second straight title. Jay Wright's squad came out flat, but a strong second half gave 'Nova their 27th victory of the season.
Buoyed by a pair of Kris Jenkins three-pointers, the Wildcats (27-2, 14-2) used a 14-2 burst to put distance between them and the Musketeers (18-12, 8-9) three-quarters of the way through the second half.
'Nova was led by Dylan Ennis and his 16 points. The junior guard shot 4-9 from behind the arc as the 'Cats, as a team, shot 3-Pointers a 13-29 (44.8%).
Ryan Arcidiacono added 15 point as the team shot 27-61 (44.3%) from the floor as Villanova won its tenth straight.
Villanova next plays Creighton on Tuesday and finishes the regular season next Saturday as they host St. John's.
