Aaron Forbes signs with Villanova over Vanderbilt

Forbes spurned Vanderbilt at the last minute to honor his commitment to Villanova.

Aaron Forbes has officially signed his National Letter of Intent with Villanova, the school announced this morning. The 5'10" 200 lb. Newburgh Free Academy (NY) running back originally committed to Villanova early January, at the time becoming the eleventh verbal in Villanova's 2015 class.

Forbes, who won the Section 9 Player of the Year award in 2014, received offers from Army and Vanderbilt, but opted to stick with Villanova in a decision that surely wasn't popular amongst Vandy fans. He rushed for over 1,600 yards and 29 touchdowns in his senior season.

Depth Chart (* denotes walk-on)
Class Name Height Weight
Senior Gary Underwood 5'11" 215 lbs.
(RS) Junior Javon White 5'11" 193 lbs.
Sophomore Matt Gudzak 5'9" 195 lbs.
Freshman Aaron Forbes 5'10" 200 lbs.
Freshman Jarrett McClenton 5'9" 170 lbs.
Freshman D'Andre Pollard 5'8" 180 lbs.

Frobes offers a different look than McClenton and Pollard in that he's a tough runner between the tackles with a bit more size on his frame. He shows a good burst to get through the line and while he doesn't have the raw breakaway speed of his classmates, he's still a threat to knock off long runs. Like the other running backs, he'll be in the mix for early playing time in his career as the 'Cats look to replace Kevin Monangai's workmanlike resume.

Welcome Aaron to 'Nova Nation!
