Simon Bingelis has officially signed his National Letter of Intent with Villanova, the school announced this morning. The 6'5" 220 lb. Brick (NJ) tight end originally committed to Villanova mid-January, at the time becoming the twelfth verbal in Villanova's 2015 class.
Bingelis, who chose Villanova over offers from Fordham, Yale, and Columbia, could likely play either wide receiver or tight end at Villanova, but his future probably lies with the latter. He's got great size for the position and is a fantastic pass catcher. He's also an adept blocker, which is important in Villanova's run-first offense.
Depth Chart (* denotes walk-on)
Class | Name | Height | Weight |
---|---|---|---|
Junior | Ryan Morris | 6'3" | 238 lbs. |
(RS) Freshman | Ryan Bell* | 6'2" | 220 lbs. |
Freshman | Simon Bingelis | 6'5" | 220 lbs. |
With Earnest Pettway, Doug Turrell and Morgan Craig all walking out the door, the Wildcats were dangerously thin at TE. Ryan Morris is a transfer from Purdue and will likely be the starter heading in to 2015, and Ryan Bell is former preferred walk-on who we haven't caught a glimpse of yet. Pettway's prowness through the air will need to be replaced and Bingelis looks like he could be that guy.
Welcome Simon to 'Nova Nation!
