Drew Wiley signs with Villanova

The deepest unit on the team continues to get more talented.

Student Sports

Drew Wiley has officially signed his National Letter of Intent with Villanova, the school announced this morning. The 6'2" 225 lb. Hopewell Valley (NY) outside linebacker originally committed to Villanova in late July, at the time becoming the seventh verbal in Villanova's 2015 class.

Wiley committed to the Wildcats over Delaware, which should provide an extra layer of satisfaction for the fanbase. He's a speedy outside linebacker who excels rushing the passer. His speed should be a major asset in Villanova's 3-3-5 defense.

Depth Chart (* denotes walk-on)
Class Name Height Weight
Freshman Don Cherry 6'1" 221 lbs.
Senior Dillon Lucas 6'0" 228 lbs.
Senior Corey Majors 6'0" 246 lbs.
Junior Austin Calitro 6'0" 230 lbs.
Sophomore Ed Shockley 5'11" 220 lbs.
Junior TJ White 6'1" 225 lbs.
(RS) Freshman Jeff Steeb 5'10" 219 lbs.
Junior Travis Clark 5'10" 216 lbs.
Freshman Drew Wiley 6'2" 225 lbs.
Freshman Anthony Malaguti 6'3" 235 lbs.

That depth chart is a thing of beauty. Villanova has one of the most talented linebacking units in the country, led by All-American Don Cherry. Lucas, Calitro and Shockley saw tons of playing time and impressed while Corey Majors' season was cut short due to concussion issues. It's unlikely that Wiley will be able to break in to the mix - but injuries have historically been a problem at this position.

Welcome Drew to 'Nova Nation!
