Julian Williams signs with Villanova

The two-way player likely projects on the defensive side of the ball in college.

Hudl

Julian Williams has officially signed his National Letter of Intent with Villanova, the school announced this morning. The 6'3" 200 lb. Hun School (NJ) outside linebacker originally committed to Villanova in July, but his commitment was not reported by the media until very recently.

Williams started his career at Don Bosco Prep before transferring to The Hun School for his senior season to focus on academics. He played both wide receiver, where he was named a Prep All-Star, and safety, where he was named a Mid-Atlantic Prep All-Star. Most of the scouting reports seem to project him to the defensive side of the ball.

Depth Chart (* denotes walk-on)
Class Name Height Weight
Senior Cameron McCurry 5'11" 196 lbs.
Senior Matt McCann 5'9" 201 lbs.
(RS) Sophomore Wesley Smith 5'9" 171 lbs.
Junior Shayne Jones 6'0" 204 lbs.
Junior Manny Aleshinloye* 5'11" 205 lbs.
Freshman Julian Williams 6'3" 200 lbs.

Will the graduation of Joe Sarnese and Jerry Miles, Villanova lost two veteran players who soaked up a ton of minutes. Cameron McCurry and Matt McCann should retain their starting roles at WS and SS, but Sarnese's free safety role looks to be up for grabs. Wes Smith saw his first playing time after an injury forced a redshirt his freshmen season, so he looks like the frontrunner. Williams and Shayne Jones should be given the opportunity to push for added playing time.

Welcome Julian to 'Nova Nation!
