After wrapping up a school-record 32-2 regular season that featured a Legends Classic title and both the Big East regular season and tournament championships, the Villanova Wildcats were rewarded with the #1 seed in the East Regional of the 2015 NCAA Tournament on Sunday night.

'Nova will face 16-seed Lafayette Leopards, coached by former Villanova player Fran O'Hanlon ('70) in the second round on Thursday in Pittsburgh. Game times have yet to be announced.

Joining the 'Cats as top seeds in the East region are Virginia Cavaliers, Oklahoma Sooners and Louisville Cardinals.

After falling to eventual national champion Connecticut in the second round last year as a 2-seed, the Wildcats will be expected to make it to the Sweet Sixteen at the very least, with a deeper run expected across the fanbase after such a stellar regular season.

The last time the Wildcats advanced out of the first weekend was in 2009, where they made an unexpected run to the Final Four as a 3-seed in the East.
