Daily Villanova links

Happy Monday, 'Nova Nation! We've officially entered in to the postseason portion of the season which means that stress levels around these parts should reach an all-time high. This kind of stress is a good stress though - expectations are high and we all want this team to live up to the reputation they've built this season.

I will be in New York City this week through the first round of the Big East Tournament, so if you will be there as well, let's make sure we meet up and grab a pregame drink on Thursday. I'll likely be at the official Villanova event.

And now, the "news."

All eyes in 'Nova Nation are on the No. 1 seed line of the mock brackets and the number of days left until Selection Sunday, as they are for fans of Virginia and Duke (forget Kentucky; they appear to be a top seed no matter what happens).

No sure pick for Big East’s top honor |
Let the debate begin. Unlike a year ago, when the selection of Doug McDermott as the new Big East’s first player of the year was a no-brainer, the process is a little more complicated this season.

The Villanova/Penn football 'rivalry' expected to end | The Daily Pennsylvanian

Matt Szczur went 2-for-2, including a home run, and stole a base as a pinch-hitter for the Chicago Cubs in a 7-5 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Saturday at spring training in Scottsdale, Arizona

Mislav Brzoja make the MVC All-Bench Team | The Southern Illinoisan
That's apparently a thing in the MVC.

No one at Penn wanted to see Jerome Allen fired
Nobody wanted this. You can't find a person walking around the Palestra who is overjoyed to hear that Jerome Allen's Penn tenure is down to one game, Tuesday against Princeton.

Time runs out on Allen era at Penn
He could have left Penn after that turnaround season in 2012 when Larry Brown wanted him to become his top assistant and heir apparent at SMU. He stayed and signed a 5-year contract. He is still owed $650,000 on that contract.

Georgetown senior with heart condition scores in his final home game | For The Win
An amazing story, and props to Kevin Willard for helping to make this happen.

Dick Vitale Delivers Ridiculous Rant Defending Jim Boeheim
Dick Vitale is missing yet another UNC-Duke game tonight, having been dispatched to Louisville for tonight's battle between Virginia and the Cardinals. And Dickie V used his podium to launch into a strenuous defense of Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, declaring the Orange skipper "not a cheater."
