Mark your calendars!

Per releases from both Villanova and Virginia, the two schools will play the first of a two-game series at John Paul Jones Arena on December 19, 2015. The return game will be on a date to be determined the following season in Philadelphia. The announcement comes roughly a month after the series was first reported by CBS' Jon Rothstein.

As is typical in press releases, both coaches had plenty of nice things to say about each other:

"We’re really excited to play an outstanding program with a great coach in Tony Bennett," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "We compete as an academic institution with Virginia and we have so much respect for the basketball program and its tradition of success. This is a great series for Villanova and we’re really looking forward to it."

"We are excited to announce a two-game series with Villanova," Virginia head coach Tony Bennett said. "Villanova has a storied history and has been one of the premier basketball programs over the past few seasons. I have a lot of respect for coach Jay Wright and his program, and we look forward to a couple of highly-competitive non-conference games."

This will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2004 NIT, a game which Villanova won. Both schools are expected to be in or around the Top 10 next season, so the game should have more meaning come December. Virginia leads the all-time series 4-2.
