The Sun's Arizin: Should Villanova expand their arena partnership with the 76ers?

That might be a better option instead of downsizing the Pavilion.

Huuuuuuuuump Daaaaaaaay! Yesterday, Marquette and the Milwaukee Bucks took a big step towards a new downtown arena that will benefit both programs immensely. With Villanova seemingly stuck in limbo with a Pavilion renovation - they want big donor dollars before publicizing a complete plan - would it make sense for them to think about moving more games to downtown Philadelphia?

It would suck for the students, there's no denying that. And it would be an extra (albeit, minimal) cost to get more buses to get the students there and back. But if the demand is there from Villanova fans (it is) and there isn't enough space on campus, this seems like it might be a better option in the interim to make some money to fund a potential on-campus expansion.

As cool as the Wawa Arena is, it's not happening. But downsizing the Pavilion with a season-ticket waitlist in the hundreds seems like an inexcusable fault. Why not make more seats available while the renovation plans are finalized? I'm sure Scott O'Neil wouldn't mind.

And now, the "news."

Another step towards a new arena for the Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette. Should Villanova consider working with the 76ers to make the Wells Fargo Center their permanent home? I'm sure Scott O'Neil wouldn't be opposed.
