The Sun's Arizin: Villanova's press may be more effective with the reduced shot clock

New, 23 comments

Hopefully Jay goes high-tempo this year.

Happy Monday, 'Nova Nation! Villanova has made really good use of the 1-2-2 zone press recently (although some might argue not enough), and now with the shot clock going down to 30 seconds, that press should only produce more positive results if it can be implemented correctly.

Mikal Bridges feels like the natural weapon to replace Darrun Hiliard at the top, using his length to disrupt the offense. If Bridges can be successful there, Villanova should be able to mirror some of their man-to-man woes by forcing the offense to work a bit harder.

And now, the "news."

The people and the location… everything about Villanova was very nice. They’re very high on my list and I’m thrilled that they offered me."

It’s Time To Dial Back The Craft Beer Snobbery | The Big Lead
The entire enterprise seems designed to create demand for a certified beer cicerone, which is now a thing, I guess. I often end up ordering the one boring lager on the menu for damage mitigation, the very phenomenon the craft movement sought to overcome.
