With Dylan Painter's commitment to Villanova, it's time to take a look at the recruiting board for Villanova. With Painter and Spellman inbound (plus Eric Paschall's eligibility), it's looking like the Wildcats are done for 2016. Lamar Stevens just announced he will make a commitment on Friday - he's the last outstanding offer for 2016. 2017 is a loaded class, especially in the Northeast, and it's where the staff has been focusing their attention lately.
Here's the current scholarship outlook, courtesy of MikeJ.
Backcourt
With Kris Jenkins and Josh Hart out the door (plus the looming threat of Jalen Brunson leaving early), Wright will need to replenish the backcourt talent in a big way. So far, he's targeted elite level players and seems to have a strong foothold in the recruitment of several targets.

---|---|---|---|---|
Lonnie Walker
Reading, PA (Reading & Team Final) |
6'4", 180 lbs. |
5-star #20 Nationally #4 SG #2 Pennsylvania |
Indiana Ohio State Maryland Penn State Stanford |
Jay Wright visited with Lonnie Walker last Wednesday, the first day he was allowed to make contact with the Reading (Pa.) guard. Arguably the top priority in 2017, it's still an industry consensus that the 5-star guard will end up with the Wildcats. |
Jordan Tucker
White Plains, NY (Archbishop Stepniac & NY Lightning) |
6'7", 200 lbs. |
4-star #33 Nationally #7 SF #2 New York |
Syracuse UConn Indiana Arizona |
Tucker was one of the first stops for Wright last week - not much happening with his recruitment over the summer, publicly at least. |
Trevon Duval
Wilmington, DE (Advanced Prep International & WE-R-1) |
6'3", 175 lbs. |
5-star #3 Nationally #1 PG #1 Delaware |
Maryland Louisville Kansas Baylor UConn |
Nobody had a bigger summer than Duval, who is now rightfully considered the best guard in the country. He just switched high schools to a basketball factory in Texas - how will that affect Villanova's recruitment remains to be seen. |
D.J. Harvey
Hyattsville, MD (DeMatha & Team Takeover) |
6'6", 185 lbs. |
5-star #8 Nationally #1 SG #1 Maryland |
Arizona Louisville Georgetown Maryland |
Harvey's June visit to Villanova reportedly went well, but schools like UCLA, Duke and North Carolina have jumped in to his recruitment, making him feel like a longshot. |
Quade Green
Philadelphia, PA (Neumann-Goretti & WE-R-1) |
5'11", 160 lbs. |
4-star #40 Nationally #8 PG #3 Pennsylvania
|
Syracuse Michigan State Maryland Arizona State Temple |
Villanova was in the house for Green last week - the Philly guard had a nice summer playing on a loaded WE-R-1 team. He's taking his time with regards to his recruitment, but will visit Syracuse again shortly. |
Hamidou Diallo
Queens, NY (Putnam Science Academy & NY Jayhawks) |
6'4", 170 lbs. |
5-star #10 Nationally #3 SG #3 Connecticut
|
UConn Kansas St. John's Louisville Maryland |
Villanova offered Hamidou Diallo over the summer, but most are expecting the electric guard to stay close to home with teammate/friend Mamadou Diarra and the Huskies. |
Jermaine Samuels
Weston, MA (The Rivers School & Expressions Elite) |
6'6", 190 lbs. |
4-star #38 Nationally #8 SF #1 Massachusetts |
UConn Providence Boston College |
Samuels has had a pretty quiet recruitment, so it's tough to know where things stand. |
Kodye Pugh
Baltimore, MD (Blair Academy & WE-R-1) |
6'6", 185 lbs. |
4-star #136 Nationally #29 SF #4 Maryland
|
Georgetown Stanford Northwestern Virginia Tech Vanderbilt |
The 'Nova staff scouted Pugh on multiple occasions over the winter, but no offer yet. Pugh reclassified to 2017 after deciding to transfer to Blair Academy. |
Justin Smith
Buffalo Grove, IL (Stevenson & Mac Irvin Fire) |
6'6", 185 lbs. |
4-star #114 Nationally #23 PF #5 Illinois
|
Illinois Wake Forest Northwestern Rice |
Villanova was in contact with Smith during the AAU period. Jalen Brunson's former teammate looks like a solid backup plan if the elite wing targets fall through. |
Frontcourt
The Wildcats have a strong 2-man class in 2016 that will replenish the frontcourt with talent after Daniel Ochefu graduates following this season. With Darryl Reynolds out the door as this class arrives, 'Nova will be looking to bring in

Mohamed Bamba
New York, NY (Westtown & PSA Cardinals) |
6'9", 185 lbs. |
5-star #6 Nationally #4 PF #1 Pennsylvania |
Arizona UConn Maryland Kentucky Duke |
Villanova is expected to see Bamba on Friday, with just about everybody else involved in his recruitment. It's always an uphill battle when programs like Duke and Kentucky are heavily involved but Bamba is very familiar with the Villanova program. |
Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree
Philadelphia, PA (Neumann-Goretti & Team Final) |
6'8", 200 lbs. |
3-star 128 Nationally #5 C #4 Pennsylvania |
Syracuse USC Penn State Temple St. Joseph's (PA)
|
Cosby-Rountree picked up a Villanova offer at the tail end of the summer evaluation period. Villanova then watched him at NG's open gym last week. He recently picked up offers from Syracuse and USC. |
Hameir Wright
Albany, NY (Albany Academy & Albany City Rocks |
6'7", 195 lbs. |
4-star #68 Nationally #12 SF #5 New York |
Maryland Cincinnati Dayton West Virginia |
ESPN is reporting that Wright will likely attend Hoops Mania next month - and is hoping to receive an offer at the event. |
Nick Richards
Manhasset, NY (St. Patrick's & Expressions Elite) |
6'10", 220 lbs. |
5-star #14 Nationally #2 C #1 New York |
Kansas Kentucky Arizona UCLA UConn
|
Richards visited for Hoops Mania last fall, and Villanova was a presence at his games on the AAU circuit this spring. His stock has blown up and Kentucky is considered the favorite. |
O'Shae Brissett
Missisauga, Ontario, CAN (Findlay Prep & LV Prospects) |
6'6", 190 lbs. |
4-star #103 Nationally #21 SF #3 Maryland
|
UCLA Arizona State Oklahoma Oregon UNLV |
Wright was reportedly expected to contact Brissett over the summer. You probably know him best as the guy who inspires flame wars over his true height, which has reportedly anywhere from 6'5" to 6'8" |
