Villanova Basketball Recruiting: 2017 Big Board

2016 looks set - so where does Jay Wright and staff go from here?

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

With Dylan Painter's commitment to Villanova, it's time to take a look at the recruiting board for Villanova. With Painter and Spellman inbound (plus Eric Paschall's eligibility), it's looking like the Wildcats are done for 2016. Lamar Stevens just announced he will make a commitment on Friday - he's the last outstanding offer for 2016. 2017 is a loaded class, especially in the Northeast, and it's where the staff has been focusing their attention lately.

Here's the current scholarship outlook, courtesy of MikeJ.

Backcourt

With Kris Jenkins and Josh Hart out the door (plus the looming threat of Jalen Brunson leaving early), Wright will need to replenish the backcourt talent in a big way. So far, he's targeted elite level players and seems to have a strong foothold in the recruitment of several targets.

Jay Wright visited with Lonnie Walker last Wednesday, the first day he was allowed to make contact with the Reading (Pa.) guard. Arguably the top priority in 2017, it's still an industry consensus that the 5-star guard will end up with the Wildcats.

Nobody had a bigger summer than Duval, who is now rightfully considered the best guard in the country. He just switched high schools to a basketball factory in Texas - how will that affect Villanova's recruitment remains to be seen.
