The Sun's Arizin: Should the Big East reconsider expansion?

New, comments

An interesting question - but I think no for now.

Happy Monday, 'Nova Nation! The Thursday night loss allowed me to put that game behind me and enjoy the weekend, and now we're on a bye week for football so it's going to be a little slower around here this week than usual.

Big East expansion was again a topic of conversation late last week and in to the weekend. Val has matter-of-factly said no to expansion when asked in the last year, but more members will equal more money, so it's always something to consider.

And now, the "news."

As Vecenie pointed out the league would need to stay a non-football league, which takes away Connecticut and Temple (not to mention Villanova would likely veto Temple joining) as possible members. So, with no real jump in league revenue from the television deal, it would look to add teams that bring value on the court and in the classroom.

Julie Hermann was hired to replace Pernetti, but came with baggage. As a volleyball coach, some of her players had accused her of being abusive.

Virginia Tech Punter Makes Save Of The Year | Deadspin
This is an astounding play. Virginia Tech punter A.J. Hughes watches the snap fly far over his head into the end zone, and he manages to not only recover the ball but get a clean punt off that traveled 60 yards on the fly. It kept the Hokies within a touchdown of ECU, and left ESPN’s Mark Neely grasping for words.
