Former Villanova hoopster Johnny Jones passes

Jay Wright passed in some sad news on to the Villanova community on Thursday afternoon with the passing of Johnny Jones.

Jones, who played under Jack Kraft from 1966-69 at 'Nova finished his Wildcat career with 1,568 career points averaging 19.6 points in 80 games. That tally has him pegged at the #22 spot on the school's All-Time Scorers List. Additionally, the Georgia native grabbed 694 boards which has him sitting in the #25 spot on the All-Time Rebounding List.

After his graduation from 'Nova, Jones was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA. After sustaining an injury in his senior season, Jones never suited up in The League, but did play professionally in Europe.

Jones remained connected to the Wildcat Community and is a part of Villanova's Black Oral History.

Rest in Peace Johnny.
