A rise in rankings was expected for Villanova. After a week that saw Jay Wright's Wildcats claim victories against Big 5 rival Penn, against then-#6 Xavier in the Big East opener, and on the road at Creighton by an average of 16 points the AP voters took notice and ranked 'Nova at #11.
Kansas is the nation's newest #1 team taking 44 of 65 first-place votes. Oklahoma got the balance of the top votes and is joined by Maryland, Virginia, and Michigan State in the Top 5.
The BIG EAST is also represented by Providence at #8, Xavier at #10, and Butler at #18.
'Nova also moved up in the USA Today Coaches Poll, to #13.
