Villanova Football QB Zach Bednarczyk named CAA Offensive Player of the Week

The Wildcats’ signal caller was outstanding in a blowout of Elon.

Villanova sophomore quarterback Zach Bednarczyk has been named the CAA’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week following the Wildcats’ 42-7 demolition of Elon on Saturday afternoon. He shared the award with James Madison QB Bryan Schor.

Bednarczyk was instrumental in a nearly flawless offensive performance prior to the ‘Cats taking their foot off the gas up 42-0 early in the second half. He finished the game 14-21 for 270 yards and 3 touchdowns, and rushed for 59 yards on 13 carries and another touchdown.

It’s the first weekly award for Bednarczyk this season after a freshman campaign in which he won the Rookie of the Week award multiple times. Bednarczyk’s continued development has been key to Villanova’s offensive output this season. Coupled with another dominant defense, the ‘Cats look like one of the top contenders in the conference in Andy Talley’s final season.

The Wildcats host Rhode Island next week as they look to continue their perfect start in the CAA. Kickoff is scheduled for 12pm ET.
