Villanova Soccer qualifies for first NCAA Tournament

‘Cats will travel to Akron to take on the perennial power.

The Villanova Men’s Soccer team will be playing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

‘Nova finished the regular season campaign with a 10-7-3 record (5-3-1 BIG EAST) where they earned a 3-seed in the conference tournament. In the BIG EAST tournament, head coach Tom Carlin’s squad lost to the eventual tournament champions, Butler, in the semifinals by an extra-time goal.

Villanova will travel to face Akron on Thursday. The Zips, who started the season ranked #1, finished 12-5-3 and are in the NCAA Tournament for the 31st time.

The Wildcats and Zips will kick off at 5p ET from FirstEnergy Stadium's Cub Cadet Field.

1-seed Indiana will host the winner of the first round match on Sunday.

Butler, Creighton, and Providence are also representing the BIG EAST in the tournament.
