Offensive lineman Nanakofi Appiah signs with Villanova

The Wildcats often put a premium on linemen, and Nanakofi Appiah adds another big body to the trenches for the 'Cats in 2016.  He gave the Wildcats his commitment just last Sunday, after visiting the school the day before. Today it was announced that he has officially signed his National Letter of Intent.

A 6'7" and 255-pound offensive lineman from Bowie, Maryland, Appiah seems set to put on some bulk in the offseason program to reach an ideal playing weight for offensive tackle. He played on both sides of the ball in high school, however, and it is also possible that he could slot in at defensive end for the 'Cats.

While Appiah may be able to contribute sooner on the defensive line, it would be rare for him to start early on as an offensive lineman.

Depth Chart (* denotes walk-on)

Class Name Height Weight
Senior Jon Green 6'2" 315 lbs.
Senior Brad Seaton 6'8 310 lbs.
Senior Jake Prus 6'6" 300 lbs.
Junior Matt Donoghue 6'4" 280 lbs.
Junior Alex Coren 6'2" 280 lbs.
Sophomore Keegan Sheedy 6'4" 255 lbs.
Sophomore Louie Csaszar 6'3" 305 lbs.
Senior Nico D'Angelo 6'3" 280 lbs.
Sophomore Ethan Greenidge 6'4" 345 lbs.
Sophomore Brandon Hitner 6'6" 285 lbs.

Villanova returns most of its starters from the 2015 season, so look for Appiah to concentrate on adding strength and size while he learns the offense's blocking scheme on the sidelines this season.

Welcome Nanakofi to 'Nova Nation!
