Defensive back Korey Stevens signs with Villanova

From a powerhouse program to Villanova.

Gilman (Md.) defensive back Korey Stevens has signed with Villanova, the school announced this morning. Stevens was the third verbal commitment in the class when he popped for 'Nova in late June and passed up some FBS offers to come to the Main Line.

At 5'11 and 175 pounds, Stevens has good size for the defensive backfield. He doubled as a wide receiver in high school but will start out on defense for the Wildcats. Stevens also comes from one of the best teams and programs in the country in Gilman and was a 1st Team All-State, All-Conference and All-Metro performer in 2015. He's a winner and should bring some swagger to the defensive backfield.

Depth Chart (* denotes walk-on)

Class Name Height Weight
(RS) Junior Trey Johnson 5'11" 175 lbs.
Junior Malik Reaves 6'0" 200 lbs.
Senior Jason Ceneus 5'9" 175 lbs.
Senior C.J. Logan 5'11" 205 lbs.

Even if you include Rob Rolle in this group - he's played both cornerback and safety - it's fairly thin on scholarship players. These four are some of the most experienced and talented players on the roster and were a big reason why Villanova's defense had such a successful season. Given the lack of depth though, Stevens could see the field early.

Welcome Korey to 'Nova Nation!
