Defensive back Terrell Vassel signs with Villanova

Some much needed reinforcements to the rearguard.

DePaul Catholic (N.J.) defensive back Terrell Vassel has signed with Villanova, the school announced this morning. Vassel was the most recent verbal commitment to the Wildcats, announcing his intent on Monday.

At 6'1" and 175 pounds, Vassel could end up playing any position in the defensive backfield for Villanova, and did play both cornerback and safety in high school, though he played more of the former. He's a very good athlete and not afraid to mix it up closer to the line of scrimmage.

Depth Chart (* denotes walk-on)

Class Name Height Weight
(RS) Junior Trey Johnson 5'11" 175 lbs.
Junior Malik Reaves 6'0" 200 lbs.
Senior Jason Ceneus 5'9" 175 lbs.
Senior C.J. Logan 5'11" 205 lbs.

Like his classmate Korey Stevens, Vassel should have the opportunity to get some early reps and earn playing time during fall camp. Defensive backfield coach Tony Trisciani has never been shy about throwing young guys in to the fire, and the current rotation all saw early action and benefited from it.

Welcome Terrell to 'Nova Nation!
