The Sun's Arizin: Villanova Volleyball's Gabby Pethokoukis wins Most Courageous Award


Happy Game Day, 'Nova Nation! Let me take a quick break from basketball though to call out a story that you may or may not have heard before. Villanova Volleyball's Gabby Pethokoukis won a Most Courageous Award for her battle with cancer, and I wanted to make sure everybody knew about this incredible fight.

Once you dry the tears, amp yourself up for tonight's game.

And now, the "news."

At one point, all Gabby Pethokoukis really wanted out of life was to "just start feeling normal again." Sounds simple enough. But maybe not when you've been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer near the end of your sophomore year at Villanova. A cancer that most often is diagnosed in people from Africa, and people over 40.

Villanova will be back on its home court at the Pavilion Wednesday night to host Creighton (14-8 overall, 5-4 BIG EAST). (CBS Sports Network/610 Sports Radio WTEL).
