NCAA Tournament 2016: VU Hoops staff bracket picks for March Madness

The selections are in; we've consolidated the writers of VU Hoops for their Elite 8, Final Four and Championship picks.

This year I'm saying f*ck it. I never pick Villanova to make the Final 4, and they prove me right. Maybe our fates are connected. In this year of parity, they've got as good as shot as they've had in the last few years.

Okay, so I went full-homer around the Elite-8. I have Temple advancing past Iowa State, which might be wishful thinking since I like that rematch better for Villanova, but hey, it's the NCAA tournament and upsets have to happen! Realistically, I think this is the year that Villanova gets the monkey off its back and gets back into the second weekend. They will get a challenge in Kentucky either way, but I think a likely Elite 8 pairing with Kansas would be the toughest game they could face along the way. Assuming they pulled that off, though, I have them rematching with Oklahoma -- where they'll need their A-game and a much better game plan than their last meeting on a neutral court.

I'm an optimist. If Nova can play to their potential, especially in the last 4 games, they can win their second national championship

Villanova will lose in Sweet 16 to Miami. Sheldon McClellan and Angel Rodriguez will prove to much for Villanova.

Objectively, I think Villanova is the third-best team in the nation... behind Kansas & Michigan State. After selecting the Jayhawks to beat 'Nova I really started to look at the matchups against Bill Self's squad. I think 'Nova would have a hard time containing Perry Ellis, but then on the flip side, I think the matchups in reverse for Kris Jenkins and Josh Hart are [very] favorable to the 'Cats. However, whoever wins that game won't get past Sparty.
