Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree commits to Villanova

Fresh off the National Championship, the 'Cats got their first verbal commitment for 2017.

City of Basketball Love

Neumann-Goretti (Pa.) power forward Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree has committed to the Villanova Wildcats, he announced on Twitter.

Cosby-Roundtree is a 6'8" 215 lb prospect who plays for Team Final on the AAU circuit and should be in for a big summer. He held offers from Syracuse, Xavier, Miami (Fla.), Providence, USC, SMU, and Temple among others. He had previously cut his list to schools to 8 last week.

Check out City of Basketball Love's scouting report on Cosby-Roundtree (about a year old) where they highlight his high-ceiling, good passing and rebounding skills and above-the-rim athleticism. A strong high school season and a good start to the EYBL (8.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 2.0 bpg) could have him hovering around the Top 100 at the next rankings update.

This is a solid pickup, and reinforces the frontcourt which may not be as deep as it would first appear. Omari Spellman could be a one-or-two-and-done, and the health of Tim Delaney seems to be up in the air. It also makes it the fourth straight class that Jay Wright has landed a player from Philadelphia-based Team Final, keeping that pipeline open. Furthermore it's a big win at Neumann-Goretti, which has historically been a pipeline to Syracuse.

Welcome Dhamir to 'Nova Nation!
