Who's Your Favorite Villanova Basketball Player: Massimino Region

New, 36 comments

We end the week with the Massimino Region... boy are there a lot of names to pick from!

This month we're having an NCAA style tournament to determine Nova Nation's favorite Villanova Basketball player of all time.  Be sure to check back each day as voting continues!

Wright Region | Severance/Kraft Region | Lappas Region

Day 3 was a real back and forth battle, and in the end Brian Lynch finished with just 8 more votes than Ron Wilson.  Both players drew a collective 65% of the vote, so I say we throw caution to the wind and send them both to next week's Play-In Round!  Since Wilson finished with fewer votes, he'll match up against former Villanova captain and member of the coaching staff, Brooks Sales.   Meanwhile, Lynch will face the 7-foot pride of Poland, Rafal Bigus.  Why?  Because it's summer... let's live a little!

But now we come to the main event, the Massimino Region.  Honestly, how do you even start seeding a region when 20 out of your 30 options are already in the Varsity Club, Villanova's Hall of Fame.  There were a lot of disagreements and back and forth over where everyone should end up, but I think we've got a really solid field.  Good luck to everyone, you've got some VERY difficult decisions ahead.

And if you thought the bracket was loaded, the Play-In Pool doesn't get any easier.  With 14 candidates to choose from, 5 of which are Hall of Famers themselves, it's not going to be an easy choice.  But whoever comes out on top will be up against the 16th Seeded 1985 NCAA Champion and member of the "Expansion Crew", Gary McLain.
