Radnor resident links Villanova's lighting plan to cancer

Little do they know they're saving Villanova money!

Happy Thursday, 'Nova Nation! It's an especially fun start to the day as we get the latest from the Radnor town meetings, where Jane Galli is back at it with a line of reasoning that is cringe-worthy. According to her, Villanova's planned 99% compliant lighting could give you cancer. No direct quotes in the article, but linking non-compliant dark sky lighting to cancer appears to have been the line of logic. Touche, lady.

Yeah, that's right. If they use the 100% compliant lights - which are cheaper - you'll be just fine. If they spend more money to keep the light style consistent with the school's design, you could die. Here's the excerpt:

Resident Jane Galli told the ZHB that wildlife and people are adversely affected by lights shining in the sky at night. The "light pollution" affects migration patterns, nocturnal animals and can affect human circadian rhythms, she said. Humans exposed to light at night also produce less melatonin, a sleep inducing hormone, causing various health problems, including cancer. It also wastes electricity, Galli said.

Have fun in the MLMN comments guys and gals!

And now, the "news."
