Who's Your Favorite Villanova Basketball Player: Championship Results

When the dust settles, Ryan Arcidiacono stands as Champion once again.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

This month we're having an NCAA style tournament to determine Nova Nation's favorite Villanova Basketball player of all time.  Be sure to check back each day as voting continues!

Wright Region | Massimino Region | Lappas Region | Severance/Kraft Region

Nova Nation voted, and with 60% of the vote in the Championship Match-up, Ryan Arcidiacono is your favorite Villanova Basketball Player of all-time.  Well, at least for this month.  Just like in the real NCAA Tournament, the team that gets hot at the right time can ride that wave to a Championship.  It doesn't get much hotter than leading the Wildcats to a Championship, and with that fresh in our memories, it was easy to see why Arch is our Champion.

But lets be honest, every single player we mentioned in this tournament is someone's favorite.  Even during the Play-In Pools, every player got at least a few votes.  And that's because it's really hard to pick just one piece out of a collective that we take so much pride in.  Every player that has ever worn a Villanova jersey, from the stars to the bench, have given us at least one special moment that made us cheer for them.

Yes, this was a tournament with only one "winner".  But as many of you figured out along the way, this was more an exercise of appreciation.  A chance to get to know many of these players, some of whom fans might have never seen or even heard of, just a little better.  I know that personally it was fascinating to pour over the stats, research player achievements, and bring back to life some great moments from Villanova Basketball history.

Thank you for participating, commenting, and re-visiting some of these Villanova greats with me over the past month.  I especially want to thank everyone who shared either great moments on the court, or personal stories of player interactions that made this tournament even better.  I don't know if my wife will ever let me put this much of a time commitment into the off-season again, but maybe she'll have forgotten by this time next season!

Congratulations again to Ryan Arcidiacono, and I know you all join me in wishing him nothing but success as he begins his NBA career.
