Quarterback Kyle McCloskey commits to Villanova

The Wildcats are off to a great start in 2017.

Germantown Academy (Pa.) quarterback Kyle McCloskey committed to Villanova on Tuesday while on a visit to campus. He announced the commitment on Twitter. He's the first verbal in the class of 2017, and in the Mark Ferrante era.

McCloskey is a 6'4" 205 pound southpaw signal caller who chose the Wildcats over offers from Bowling Green, Toledo and Ohio from the FBS, and most notably Delaware from the FCS among many other offers.

He's got great size at the QB position, and has predictably has a great arm with those measurables. He represents a bit of change in the style of quarterback that Andy Talley has recruited in recent years. While dual-threat QBs have been the preference, McCloskey is much more developed as a passer. He's plenty mobile and shows good ability to escape the pocket and make plays, but his primary strength is his ability to sling it.
