After spending most of the weekend down South, Villanova Wildcats head coach Jay Wright and assistant coach Ashley Howard spent Sunday at the Elevate Hoops Summer Showdown at Philly U.

Trevon Duval was the main name there for ‘Nova. He’s the best point guard in the class and the ‘Cats continue to stay hot on his trail, with Duval saying ‘Nova and Maryland are in contact with him daily.
Duva’s WE-R-1 squad first faced off against Philly Pride before taking on the vaunted SporsU 16U team. SportsU is full of ‘Nova targets as well - the new-age ‘Fab 5’ of guards Jahvon Quinerly, Atiba Taylor and Luther Muhammad are joined by forwards Louis King and Naz Reid.
Team Rio was also at the event - they feature the 2019 duo of Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis, and ‘Nova watched as Antoine made a late-game steal and three-pointer to give his team the win.
Final item of note - Wright and Howard watched the unsponsored Jersey Shore Warriors take on Team Melo (Md.) in early action. The JS Warriors feature Eli Brooks - he who called Villanova his dream school - while Melo features guard Darryl Morsell, who has picked up several high-major offers after a big weekend.
The first live period of July ended at 5pm on Sunday, but things pick up again this Wednesday evening.
