Villanova offers 2017 point guard Eli Brooks

New, comments

Brooks recently called Villanova his dream school.

Big news out of the second July Live Period as 2017 point guard Eli Brooks has picked up an offer from the Villanova Wildcats. You'll recall that Brooks called Villanova his dream school in a recent interview.

Brooks is a 6'1" point guard from Spring Grove, Pa. who plays for the non-sponsored Jersey Shore Warriors AAU program (alongside Villanova Football verbal Kyle McCloskey). Because the Warriors don't play on one of the major AAU circuits, Brooks has mostly flown under the radar. A strong AAU season has led to more offers, with Kansas State and NC State jumping in the mix recently.

Check out City of Basketball Love's scouting report on Eli Brooks to get a better feel for his game. He's a good athlete who can orchestrate an offense, shoot the ball, and defend at a high level. All in all, a potentially good fit for the 'Cats.

Jeff Griffith from City of Basketball Love caught up with Eli's father and high school coach. Check out the full story, but here is a good snippet:

"Eli has always liked Villanova," James said. "As a young person, Villanova was always his team, and he always thought (playing for Villanova) was kind of an unattainable thing that would be really cool if it ever happened, but now that it’s happened, it’s one of those feelings that doesn’t happen all the time, when you have a life-long goal and you finally hit it. Now that he has the offer, knowing they want you, and you’re at that level, it’s pretty special."

If 'Nova is indeed his dream school, Brooks' commitment could be imminent if he schedules a campus visit in the near future.
