Villanova Basketball wins first exhibition in Spain

‘Nova defeats second-division pros by 40

The 2016 National Champion Villanova Wildcats started their Spanish Tour off on the right foot on Friday morning as they knocked off a Spanish Select Team, 89-49.

‘Nova Nation started their mornings off with the awesome treat of a live stream for the exhibition in Barcelona. Anchored by the starting five of Jalen Brunson, Kris Jenkins, Josh Hart, Eric Paschall, and Phil Booth the Wildcats played in their first of three games against the Select Team comprised of players from LEB Oro, Spain’s second division.

Playing under international rules, Hart, the senior shooting guard, led the way for ‘Nova with 16 points as the ‘Cats shot 28-58 from the floor (58.3%). Sophomore point Jalen Brunson added 15 and freshman and Dylan Painter added 14.

Villanova now moves on to Spain’s capital city where they will next play on Sunday morning at 6a ET from Ciudad Deportiva Real Madrid.
