The AP Poll rests for no one. College Basketball’s newest media poll that was released on Monday amid New Year’s Day (observed) festivities has the Villanova Wildcats atop the poll for the fifth consecutive week.

Jay Wright’s squad collected 59 of 65 first place votes as the Wildcats (14-0) started off their 2017 BIG EAST Conference schedule with a home win over DePaul and a 10-point victory in Omaha. The Bluejays, who remain unchanged at #10, were previously undefeated.

Baylor, Kansas, UCLA, and Gonzaga round out the top 5.

Villanova next returns to the court on Wednesday in Indianapolis against #18 Butler.

The BIG EAST is also represented in the AP Top 25 by Xavier at #16.
