College basketball rankings, week 12: Villanova remains at #1

Wildcats hold the top ranking for the seventh week.

For the seventh week in the 2016-17 college basketball season, the Villanova Wildcats have been tabbed at the #1 spot in the AP Poll.

‘Nova collected 35 of the poll’s 65 votes in the newest poll released on Monday. Kansas, Gonzaga, Kentucky, and Baylor round out the top five.

Last week saw Villanova (19-1, BE 7-1) take sole possession of first place in the BIG EAST with victories over Seton Hall and Providence by an average of 20 points.

The BIG EAST is also represented by Butler at #11, Creighton at #16, and Xavier at #24.

Villanova next plays on Tuesday when they travel to Milwaukee to face the Marquette Golden Eagles.
