On Friday afternoon, the Boston Celtics announced that they have signed the former Villanova big man.

Ochefu comes to Boston after being waived by the Washington Wizards earlier this week.
The 6-11 center logged 75 minutes of action over 19 games last season as a rookie for the Wizards. In that time, he averaged 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds, as well as posted a 16.5 percent rebounding rate.
The move comes shortly after Celtics’ big man Aron Baynes suffered a hyperextended knee in a preseason game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Boston still has a 15th roster spot available, but Danny Ainge has made it clear late last September that he’ll be taking his time evaluating the young guys on his roster before filling it in. It’s very possible that Ochefu might be the answer or that the Celtics will stash him for their G-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
What is certain is the defensive element Ochefu brings to the table and his ability to rebound the ball.
During his time at Villanova, Ochefu amassed 1,015 points, 929 rebounds, and 182 blocks over his four-year career.
For now, Ochefu is shipping up to Boston.
