NCAA Basketball: Battle 4 Atlantis Championship-Villanova vs Northern Iowa Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Villanova Wildcats moved up one spot in the latest AP Poll and are now the #4 team in the country. Villanova was one of just five teams from last week’s Top 10 that didn’t lose last week, staying perfect to win the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship.

Nova jumped over former #2 Arizona as they free fell completely out of the rankings, the first time a Top 2 team has fallen out of the rankings in over 30 years. Arizona, Villanova’s presumed championship opponent in the Bahamas, lost all three of their tournament games. Meanwhile, Duke is now the unanimous #1 team in the country after coming from behind to win all three of their PK80 tournament games.

The Big East slipped a little this week as Xavier and Seton Hall both suffered losses. Xavier dropped six spots to #21, while Seton Hall dropped out of the Top 25. But Creighton was able to slip in at #25, even after picking up their first loss of the season, to keep the Big East’s Top 25 tally at three. Seton Hall (87 points) now leads all schools in the “Others receiving votes” category, and they’re joined by Providence (9 points).

Villanova gets a relatively easy week with a game against Big 5 rival Penn. The game will be Villanova’s only on campus game of the regular season as they return to the Jake Nevin Field House for a “students only” game. Tip off is Wednesday at 7:00PM.
