Villanova Women’s Basketball Ranked for the First Time Since 2004

After an outstanding week, the Lady Cats are ranked #25

For the first time in over 13 years, the Villanova Women’s Basketball team has broken into the top 25. The AP Poll released today has the undefeated Wildcats ranked at #25, joining Marquette (#23) as the only other Big East team represented in the rankings.

The victory over #11 Duke last Sunday brought Villanova into the conversation, and winning the Vermont Thanksgiving Tournament added two key victories to their resume. They defeated James Madison University 60-57 on Friday and beat American University 65-60 to win the Vermont Thanksgiving Tournament.

With the Men’s team coming in at #4 this week, it marks the first time in 25 years that both teams were ranked in the AP Poll at the same time.

The Cats travel to Princeton Wednesday to take on the 3-1 Tigers, and return home on Sunday to take on rival Saint Joseph's. The 5-0 Hawks will prove to be a tough challenge, but two more wins against teams with winning records could certainly boost the Wildcats ranking.
