The Villanova Women’s Basketball team has moved up to #20 in the latest AP Poll released earlier today. The Wildcats improved to 9-0 after the victory over Temple on Sunday, marking their best start in nearly 37 years. In addition, the Wildcats are just one of three schools remaining with undefeated men’s and women’s basketball teams, along with Florida State and Mississippi State.
Losses from #2 Texas and #7 UCLA shook up the top 10, but UConn remains the unanimous #1. Other than those changes, the rest of the 25 remained relatively stable, with rankings shifting just a spot or two. Villanova remains the sole Big East team in the top 25.
Big East Player of the Week Adrianna Hahn lead the way on Sunday with 19 points, and contributions from Alex Louin (15), Megan Quinn (12), and Jannah Tucker (10) gave the Cats a narrow 69-65 victory. They kept the momentum going after a convincing 73-44 rout over Fairfield on Wednesday, where Hahn and Bridget Herlihy combined for 40 points.
The Wildcats have a week off for finals (anyone want to take my comparative politics final?) before returning to action on December 20th to face off against Big 5 rival La Salle. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM.
