Wills was publicly down to a final four that included Villanova, UConn and Wake Forest but had only taken official visits to Stanford and ‘Nova.
Judging by Wills quotes, Stanford’s effort in the recruitment clearly paid off. That’s not to doubt Villanova’s either which had sent assistant Kyle Neptune to several practices and games in recent weeks. Stanford’s academics likely played a huge factor as well, given Wills’ reputation as a great student.
Wills is an intriguing prospect that looked like an ideal development candidate on the Main Line, but Villanova won’t be hurting despite losing out on his services. They bring in Brandon Slater on the wing next year.
The focus for Villanova will continue to be on the point guard position, with Jahvon Quinerly and Courtney Ramey currently the last two prospects on the board for 2018.
