College basketball rankings, week 8: Villanova retains #1 spot in AP Poll

Wildcats are the top team for the third straight week.

Villanova retained the top spot in the newest AP Rankings released on Christmas Day, but the Wildcats did lose two first place after a slow week that saw them win, and play, their only game against Hofstra.

The next three teams remain unchanged with Michigan State, Arizona State, and Duke following Jay Wright’s ‘Cats.

The BIG EAST is also represent by Xavier, who jumped to #6, Seton Hall at #23, and Creighton at #25.

Villanova tips off conference action on Wednesday when they travel to Chicago to play DePaul.
