Running back Damone Drew signs with Villanova Football

Brooke Point (Va.) running back Damone Drew has signed his Letter of Intent to play football at Villanova, the school announced this morning.

A 5'10" 195 lb. 3-star prospect, Drew is the highest rated member of the Villanova class per the 247 Composite. He smashed school records at his high school and is a potential early-impact player at Villanova.

Drew was recruited by Syracuse, Virginia, Cincinnati, Temple and Appalachian State but committed to Villanova after the aforementioned schools didn’t have a scholarship available. He finished 1st Team All-Conference and All-Region, 2nd Team All-State and was his Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Under Talley Villanova utilized a running back by committee approach, and with Sam Venuto still on staff there’s no reason to expect that to change. There’s plenty of talent in front of him, but Drew could make an early impact if he impresses in fall camp and the graduation of Javon White certainly opens up some playing time.
